Banjooli collection designed by Sebastian Herkner just won the Best of Year 2014 award by Interior Design Magazine. The awarding ceremony took place at Frank Gehry’s IAC Building in New York during the first week of December.
This outdoor chair is the latest member of Moroso’s Afrique collection, realized in collaboration with craftsman in Dakar. For this production, the craftsman use a hand-weaving technique employing the plastic threads traditionally used for making fish nets.
Banjooli’s curved design is inspired by the courtship dance of ostrich birds living in East Africa. The flapping of the wings creates overhanging shapes which have been transferred to the silhouette of this armchair.
