Diatom winner of the EDIDA Outdoor Category

Diatom chair, designed by Ross Lovegrove for Moroso, was selected by the 25-strong worldwide network of Elle Decor editors as the winner of the outdoor category for the EDIDA (Elle Decor International Design Awards). The world-class award was presented to Patrizia Moroso and Ross Lovegrove during a ceremony held on April 16 at the Triennale in Milan in the Furniture Show Week.
Diatom is a stackable chair, perfect for any home setting or for outdoor use. The aluminium silhouette takes its shape from that one of a diatom, the primeval single-celled organism with its silica skeleton, current in all aquatic environments. The production of this seat uses a technology developed in the automotive sector to reduce the weight and costs of car-seat production, using a sheet of pressure-formed aluminium to ensure absolute lightness, while offering the same great performance as the steel it replaces.
