Massimo Iosa Ghini graduated from the Politecnico di Milano. He is considered one of the leading Italian architects and designers on the international design scene. He has worked in the Italian architectural and design avant-garde since 1985: he founded the Bolidismo cultural movement and was part of Ettore Sottsass’ Memphis group. In 1989 he started working internationally; in the same year he held his first solo at the Inspiration Gallery in the Axis Building, Tokyo, and Osaka bestowed the Keys to the City upon him. He opened Iosa Ghini Associati in 1990. Today the firm operates in Milan, Bologna, Moscow and Miami developing projects for large groups and international developers. He designs residential, commercial and museum interiors, cultural installations, public transport areas and structures, and store chains all over the world. Many of his designs are in international museums and private collections and have received major awards and accolades including the Roscoe Award, USA; the ADI Compasso D’Oro; the Good Design Award of the Chicago Athenaeum; the IAI Green Design Award, China; the iF Product Design Award and the Red Dot Award, Germany. In 2013 the Milan Triennale held a retrospective of his 30-year career. Fondazione Marconi and the Marconi Institute for Creativity awarded him the 2015 Premio Marconi per la Creatività (Marconi Prize for Creativity) in recognition of his creative talents.
