At the Moroso Design Outlet in Udine, a new chapter between art and design
Opened on Friday, February 20, the exhibition Ulay, Marina, Igor. A New Story transforms the Moroso Design Outlet in Udine into a space of vision and narrative, where design and contemporary art engage in an open and layered dialogue.
This spring, Udine becomes part of a sentimental geography intertwined with cities such as Vienna, Ljubljana and Zagreb — places that shaped the artistic and human journey of Ulay and Marina Abramović. Yet this project is not merely a tribute to one of the most iconic duos in contemporary art history. It marks a new chapter, written in the present through the vision of Igor Andjelić.
Partner of Lena Pislak, Ulay’s widow, Andjelić embraces a delicate legacy and reinterprets it through a personal lens, where memory, transformation and forgiveness become living matter. His practice — immediate and poetic, often relying on the smartphone as an observational tool — stands as a quiet act of resistance against the speed of our time, restoring attention to detail, fragments and layered meanings.
Design and Visions
Within the Moroso Design Outlet, the installation places iconic furniture pieces in dialogue with works by Kristjan Antolović, Giona Maiarelli, Maurizio Ciancia and mimmomirabile, creating a visual and conceptual exchange that resonates with the presence and shadows of Ulay, Marina Abramović and Igor Andjelić.
The space becomes a concept store of the soul: a place where everyday living meets pure aesthetics. Visitors can explore the protagonists’ biographies, discover Andjelić’s Flaneur magazine and access original prints and curated author items.
For Moroso, long committed to cross-disciplinary experimentation and the creation of cultural experiences, this exhibition represents a natural extension of its language — an environment where design, art and human connection intertwine to generate new perspectives.
A City-Wide Project
The exhibition unfolds across three symbolic locations. Alongside the Moroso Design Outlet, Galleria Punto hosts Igor Andjelić’s Casa Come Me, while from March 12 the Church of San Francesco presents an immersive intervention inviting visitors to bring a small pink object to be placed in Ulay’s “sanctuary,” transforming the visit into a shared and ritual gesture.
