From fiber to product: the exciting journey of a textile – Milano

On Thursday 1 February 2023, a new edition of our ‘From Fibre to Product’ Workshop took place inside our showroom in Milan.

The event foresees that a prestigious jury will decide the winner among designers and architects selected among the most important studios in Milan. The jury for this edition consisted of Federica Sala, Independent Curator and Design Advisor, and Lorenza Bozzoli, Designer.

The participants challenged each other to upholster a miniature version of the Pebble Rubble seating system, designed by Swedish designers Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren of Front Design.

In Pebble Rubble, design is clearly a tool to communicate a message that goes beyond the formal and functional qualities of a simple seat. The most obvious and immediate aspect lies in the similarity between the upholstered volumes and those of huge stones, smoothed by wind and rain and enveloped in an organic or vegetable layer that softens their roughness and makes the surfaces cosy and comfortable.

The architects therefore had to create their own customized version of the Pebble Rubble seating in miniature using the vast range of Kvadrat fabrics: the creativity that the jury deemed best was rewarded with a 1:1 scale Pebble Rubble pouf obviously upholstered in Kvadrat fabric.
