From fiber to product: the exciting journey of a textile – Sydney
The workshop, organized in collaboration with Kvadrat and carried out for the first time in 2016, in all these years has touched several cities: London, Stockholm, Dubai, Singapore and Zurich, to name but a few. Last September, during the Sydney Design Week, the new edition was staged in Australia in collaboration with Mobilia. During the event, a prestigious jury decreed the winner among the designers and architects selected from the most important Sydney studios. Participants challenged each other to upholster the miniature version of the Paper Planes armchair, designed by Nipa Doshi & Jonathan Levien for Moroso, which was born from the design of a fabric inspired by graph paper: a shape derived from folding and sharpening paper, exploring shapes and structures, producing angles, lines and polygons. The architects created their own customized version of the Paper Planes armchair in miniature using the wide range of Kvadrat fabrics: the creativity that the jury decided as best was rewarded with a real Paper Planes armchair.
