Clay is an armchair born from the fusion of contemporary design and artisanal craftsmanship, the result of the collaboration between Zanellato/Bortotto and Moroso. The project continues the research path started with the Mangiafuoco collection, deepening the connection between primordial materials, ancient techniques, and modern forms.
The soft, enveloping lines of Clay combine with a truly unique element: a handcrafted ceramic panel serving as the backrest, turning the seat into a genuine functional sculpture. Each piece is handcrafted in the historic ceramics district of Nove (Vicenza), using bi- and three-dimensional slabs enriched with precious glazes and lustres, enhancing the uniqueness of every creation.
The design surprises from the rear, where the glazed ceramic is revealed like a piece of art set into a refined textile frame. The solid wood base – available in oak or walnut – acts as a clean-lined pedestal, visually lifting the seat and giving it a sense of lightness and suspension.
With refined proportions, tailored comfort, and authentic materials, Clay is more than just an armchair. It is an object that tells ancient stories in a contemporary language, ideal for those seeking exclusive design furniture that merges tradition and innovation.
